Whilst carpets are made to last these days, with most being manufactured with durability in mind, there will come a time when your carpet needs upgrading. If you are not quite sure whether or not it is time to replace your carpet, here are some tell-tale signs it may be wise to invest in a new one:
Stains
If you have several stains on your carpet that are become difficult to cover with a strategically placed rug or chair then this is a sign it should be replaced. If stain removing treatments have not worked on the affected areas then it is probably time to accept that a new carpet is the best solution to the problem.
Carpet condition
Over time, carpets can become worn down due to the amount of footfall over them. If the carpet has worn away, or become threadbare in patches, this signals its shelf life is up. Similarly, if the padding has passed it best (making it uncomfortable to sit up and meaning it is less thermally efficient) it is time to think about getting a replacement.
Bad smells
Finally, if your carpet is starting to smell then this is a sure sign that it needs to be replaced. If you have pets the smell might be because of this. It could also be an accumulation of spillages or due to mould underneath it which will need to be dealt with straightaway.
