Things to consider when buying a new carpet

Buying a new carpet can help to refresh the look of the room it is fitted in as well as make a big difference to the feel of the space underfoot. When deciding which carpet to purchase it’s important to choose the one which best suits your needs. Here are some important considerations to make:

Material

Carpets can be made from any number of fibres, either synthetic, natural or a combination of both. Common types include nylon, polyester, polypropylene and wool, each of which have different advantages. It is important to choose a fibre which is suits the demands of your family or the space it is being fitted in. For example, some carpets are more suitable than others for areas where there will be a high footfall or easier to remove stains from than their counterparts.

Texture

As well as material being an important aspect to consider, so is the texture of the carpet. Again, the most suitable choice will vary depending on where the carpet is laid in the house and who will be using that space. Velvet piles can create a luxurious feel in a room, whereas twist piles have a more rustic finish. Loop piles are a popular choice amongst customers who are looking for a neutral coloured carpet for their home. Patterned carpets are a common pick for those with small families or pets as stains do not show up as easily and they are generally very durable.
